Criadero de Caballos GILGAL

Owned by a family of horse breeders with a tradition going as far back as 1920 with Don Alberto Marulanda and his farm in Barranquilla, Colombia, "La Riorita".

Later on in the Mid 70's the formation of "La Conchita", probably the best well known Breeding Farm in the Atlantic Coast of Colombia took place.  With "La Conchita" came the formation of AJUCA - Asociacion Juvenil de Caballistas, the first ever Club for riders under 18 years old under the tutelage of Don Paco Marulanda and his then wife, Conchita Gonzalez.  This 30 strong club created the horse breeders of today, including both his sons Alberto "Pocho" Marulanda (Now living in Bogota) and Francisco "Franky" Marulanda (Now living in England).  The first ever Cartagena Horse Fair took place in the grounds of La Conchita and atracted over 200 horses.  La Conchita was sadly sold to Don Fabio Ochoa in the early 80's.

Then, the Breeding Farm moved to Pelaya, Cesar to new grounds once the property of Don Alberto and named "Casa Blanca".  It was found very early on that the heat and other factors around the area were not ideal for the business and new facilities were built in Bucaramanga, Cesar.

In the mid-90's Paco Marulanda moved back to Cartagena and with him came the horses and his son Julian Dario, a horse lover with great feeling and riding attitute.  The new place was named "GILGAL" and it is what we have today.

In 2006, Paco, Julian Dario and Franky met with the intention to extend inside and outside Colombia the tradition of these amazing creatures, the Colombian Paso Fino.
